Kent Thiry is Co-Chairman and CEO of DaVita HealthCare Partners Inc, a Fortune 400® health care provider. The company has approximately $12 billion in annual revenue and 57,000 teammates across 45 states and 11 countries. DaVita HealthCare Partners has two primary businesses and is a clinical leader in both:

a. Population Health Management. We take comprehensive care of approximately 800,000 individuals in 5 States.

b. Kidney Care. We take care of approximately 35% of dialysis patients in America (about 160,000) in over 2000 locations across the U.S., as well as locations overseas (including China, India, and Saudi Arabia).

DaVita considers itself a community first, a company second. Teammates strive to improve the quality of life for patients, each other and communities around the world. Mr. Thiry currently serves on the Harvard Business School Advisory Board and is a member of The Colorado Forum.

Prior Board seats include Varian Medical Systems, the Chairmanship of Oxford Health Plans and the board of directors of The Trust for Public Land (TPL). Earlier in his career, Kent served as a Partner at Bain & Company.

Mr. Thiry is an alumnus of Stanford University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He earned a master’s degree in business administration with honors from Harvard Business School.

Dennis Kogod

Mr. Dennis L. Kogod is the President of HealthCare Partners, LLC, a division of DaVita HealthCare Partners. He became the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for DaVita in January 2009, and added responsibility for the healthcare division in May 2013 before fully transitioning to the COO role in March 2014. He was named President in December 2014.

Mr. Kogod joined DaVita in June 2000. Prior to becoming COO, he held the position of Group President from 2005-2009. In addition, Mr. Kogod oversaw DaVita’s Compliance, Vascular Access, Clinical Operations, Purchasing, and DeNovo Growth business units. Previously, he served as President and Chief Operating Officer-West of Gambro Healthcare, Inc., which was acquired by DaVita in October 2005. From July 2000 to January 2004, Mr. Kogod served as President of the West Division of Gambro Healthcare USA.

Before joining Gambro Healthcare USA, Mr. Kogod was employed by Teleflex Corporation where, from December 1999 to July 2000, he served as Division President of the Teleflex Medical Group, a global supplier of medical devices, surgical instruments, and disposable medical products. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Kogod served as Corporate Vice President, overseeing operations in Asia Pacific, Central and South America, and Canada. He received his business degree from the University of Florida, and has also completed a number of Sales and Management Executive programs.

Mr. Kogod has a deep personal commitment to service and volunteerism. After joining DaVita, he established Bridge of Life-DaVita Medical Missions. Bridge of Life is a not-for-profit organization that has completed 30 missions to serve those affected by chronic kidney disease in developing countries. He has been an active member of the Board of Directors in addition to serving as the Executive Director in its early stages. He has also been a member of the Board of Directors for the not-for-profit Medical Missions for Children, Inc. (MMFC) which provides free surgical, medical, and dental care for impoverished children and young adults in developing countries. In addition, Mr. Kogod currently serves on the Board of Directors of the not-for-profit Damien Foundation, which serves patients around the world afflicted with Hanson's Disease.

Tyler Jung, MD

Chief Medical Officer HealthCare Partners, LLC
Tyler Jung, MD, was named chief medical officer of HealthCare Partners, LLC in June 2014. In this role, he has national oversight for all clinicians, guiding national medical policies, practices and clinical programs, and ensuring clinical excellence in care delivery to all HealthCare Partners patients.

With more than 18 years of HealthCare Partners’ experience, Dr. Jung most recently served as corporate medical director for inpatient services across the country. Prior to that, he held the position of corporate medical director for HealthCare Partners Medical Group (California).

Dr. Jung is board certified in internal medicine, critical care, and pulmonary medicine. He earned his bachelor’s degree in microbiology from the University of California, Los Angeles and his medical degree from Tulane Medical School. He completed his residency and fellowship at Harbor UCLA Medical Center.

Chan Chuang, MD, FCCP, FACP

Chief Clinical Officer, HealthCare Partners, LLC HealthCare Partners, LLC
Chan Chuang, MD, was named Chief Clinical Officer of HealthCare Partners, LLC in June 2014.  In this role, he focuses on driving improved clinical outcomes for the patients and communities that HealthCare Partners serves across the nation.
 
Dr. Chuang joined HealthCare Partners in 2002, and has held several leadership positions within the company including Lead Hospitalist, Associate Regional Medical Director and most recently, Corporate Medical Director.  He has also served as Chief of the Department of Medicine and a member of the Medical Executive Committee at Torrance Memorial Medical Center.
 
Dr. Chuang is board certified in internal medicine, critical care, and pulmonary disease.  He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley and his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego.  He completed his residency, chief residency, and fellowship at Harbor UCLA Medical Center.  Dr. Chuang is the recipient of several distinguished teaching awards, and holds a special interest in the care of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) as well as population health.

Joseph C. Mello

Chief Operating Officer HealthCare Partners, LLC
Joseph C. Mello became our chief operating officer, HealthCare Partners, in January 2015 after two years as a private investor and consultant. From 2009 through 2012, he served as a consultant to DaVita. From 2000 to 2009, he served as DaVita’s chief operating officer. Prior to DaVita, Mr. Mello served in senior management roles at various large medical group management organizations including MedPartners and Caremark.
